Detailed Description
The Don't Tread On Me flag (commonly referred to as the Gadsden flag) is made from premium SolarMax® Nylon by DuPont. SolarMax® provides greater tear resistance and is highly resistant to UV fading, which allows for the use of deeper and brighter colors. This feature will extend the useful life of your flag. Flag has a header with rust-resistant grommets and is ideal for outdoor display. Flag is proudly made in the U.S.A.
For a little history behind the flag, it was in the fall of 1775 when the United States Navy was established. Their main job was to intercept British ships who were attempting to deliver supplies to the British troups in the colonies. To support the Navy, five companies of Marines were mustered to accompany them on their first mission. These first Marines originated from Philadelphia and carried drums painted yellow with a coiled rattlesnake with thirteen rattles. These thirteen rattles represented the original thirteen colonies. The motto painted on these drums was "Don't Tread On Me". This is the first recorded telling of what the future Gadsden flag would symbolize. This flag was designed and named after American patriot Christopher Gadsden.
This flag is a symbol of American independence and freedom and has been used in modern politics as a show of disagreement with the current government.
